Problem

When starting the neoCatalog app then the screen is shown black.


Reason

The hostname of your computer changed that was used when creating this neoCatalog. The hostname can change when:

  • The system was updated (e.g. macbook-de-inedit.local to macbook-de-inedit-2.local).
  • The hostname was registered in your network but now is not valid anymore.


Solution

If your computer had an update:

  1. Go to neoCatalog preferences (right-click on the icon with the name on the left sidebar).
  2. Disable the option to use the hostname and use your computer IP.
  3. Do not change the port.
  4. Click on the Save button and wait until neoCatalog restarts.
  5. Once restarted you can go back to the preferences and enable to see the host name again.


If your hostname was registered on the network:

  1. Get in contact with the network admin and update or remove the registration of your hostname. 
  2. Once restarted you can go back to the preferences and enable to see the host name again.
