Problem

Printing with an ICC profile that includes Fluorescent Pink and Fluorescent Yellow results in higher-than-expected usage of these ink channels.


Solution

NeoStampa does not provide a direct option to prioritize CMYK inks. However, the following methods can help reduce the use of Fluorescent inks.


Option 1 – Use the Perceptual Rendering Intent

  1. Open the calibration used by the print scheme.

  2. Set the Rendering Intent to Perceptual.

  3. Save the changes and print again.

The Perceptual rendering intent generally produces a more balanced color separation and may reduce the use of Fluorescent Pink and Fluorescent Yellow.


Option 2 – Reduce Artwork Saturation

If the artwork contains highly saturated colors:

  1. Open the image in an image editing application, such as Adobe Photoshop.

  2. Slightly reduce the overall saturation.

  3. Print the file using the same ICC profile.

Lower saturation typically allows the RIP to reproduce colors using more CMYK ink and less Fluorescent ink.

These methods can help:

  • Reduce Fluorescent Pink and Fluorescent Yellow consumption.

  • Increase the use of CMYK inks where possible.

  • Produce a more balanced color separation.

  • Improve overall printing consistency.


Notes

The actual ink usage depends on the ICC profile, the selected rendering intent, and the color content of the artwork. Highly saturated images naturally require greater use of Fluorescent ink channels to reproduce the requested colors accurately.
